Pleurtuit suggests you different tourist activities, hikes(rides), or simply resting in a charming city situated between Saint Malo, Dinard and Dinan, in border of Rance.

The origins of Pleurtuit are very old and probably ever since Prehistoric times since polished stone axes were discovered in the area.

En 1795, Pleurtuit became the County town of the canton, which was later to be replaced by Dinard. Pleurtuit has been living for centuries out of farming, fishing and later, in the 18th century, its shipbuilding industry with the shipyard of Montmarin.

On 10th August 1944, Pleurtuit was burnt down by American shells.stèle du champ de bataille The first offensive to free the village took place on 11th August 1944 but it failed and the “bataillon perdu ” or “lost battalion” was only made free the next day.
The Northern part of the village was made free on the 14th and 15th August after an heavy battle.

The church’s steeple, which can now be seen on the church square, used to as mark to terreneuvas, therefore it had to be removed hence its current location. The town which had been 80% damaged was awarded the War Cross
